Tottenham v Leicester City: Premier League Monday preview

Tottenham will be looking to pick up their first win in seven league games when they entertain Leicester City in the Premier League in the early hours of Monday morning.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have lost five and drawn one of the last six games to slide down to 15th place on the Premier League ladder.

It is nowhere near where they want to be and the Aussie is in desperate need of all three points against a struggling Leicester side.

Anything other than a convincing win will not do for the Spurs faithful.

The Foxes sit second from bottom, two points away from safety and a shock win in London could lift them out of the drop zone.

That is far easier said than done after losing the last seven games on the spin, but Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side will be battling for their lives.

Spurs in desperate need of a win

Tottenham are on a disastrous run of form but for now Postecoglou has managed to stay in charge of the club.

Another poor result against the Foxes on Sunday and chairman Daniel Levy could have a decision to make.

Spurs do have a good record against Leicester, winning five of the last six meetings, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw at the start of the season.

The Lilywhites are certainly having a season to forget and their form at home is poor, losing four and drawing two of the last six games.

They have also failed to keep a Premier League clean sheet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since a 4-0 win over Everton back in August.

Despite their struggles, the Londoners continue to score goals and have fired home 45 so far this season - only Liverpool with 50 have scored more.

James Maddison is the leading goalscorer with eight goals, just ahead of the injured Dominic Solanke, who has seven.

There are usually goals when these two team meet and 15 have been scored in the last three games.

Foxes failing to find their bite

Leicester are on a horror run after suffering seven defeats on the bounce and their away form does not offer much hope ahead of Monday’s clash.

The Foxes have won just once on the road this season at Southampton and have picked up just two points from the other nine away days.

Leicester have kept just one clean sheet all season and have struggled to find the back of the net, scoring just 23 goals.

They have scored only two goals in the last seven games, but shipped in 18 at the other end, which sums up their season so far.

However, while there is Jamie Vardy, there is hope for Leicester.

The veteran striker has scored six goals this season but does have a great record against Spurs, scoring nine goals in 16 Premier League games against them.
