Manchester City have not been the force they once were and Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to add to their recent woes on Thursday morning when they meet in north London.
It’s been a spell to forget for City, with Pep Guardiola’s watching his side crash out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid, before losing a heavyweight Premier League showdown at the hands of Liverpool.
Spurs have already had the better of the Cityzens this season and Ange Postecoglou will be hoping his side can get one over on Guardiola’s men at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday.
Tottenham saw their hopes of domestic silverware go up in flames in the space of three days, as they crashed out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup at the hands of Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively.
However, the north London outfit have responded well with back-to-back wins in the Premier League against Manchester United and Ipswich Town.
Managing to pull themselves closer to the top half of the ladder will have given the Spurs squad a lift going into Thursday’s game against City.
The Lilywhites have had City’s number so far this season, winning their meeting in the EFL Cup 2-1 in October, before an impressive 4-0 win at the Etihad in the Premier League in November.
Even though they are looking for their third-straight win over the Cityzens, Spurs are still the 3.25 underdogs for the three points on Thursday.
Losing those big games against Real Madrid and Liverpool will have added insult to injury on what has already been a below-par season for Manchester City.
However, the Cityzens are still in the thick of the battle for a top-four finish and must achieve that if they are to return to UEFA Champions League action for next season.
City sorely missed striker Erling Haaland for the 2-0 defeat against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium but they will hope to have the Norwegian back for the trip to north London this week.
The visitors are 2.00 favourites to win the game, while Haaland is 4.33 to bag the opening goal of the game against Spurs.
