UEFA Champions League outright odds: Barcelona in the box seat

The UEFA Champions League has reached the quarter-final stage and Barcelona are the current hot fancies to go all the way and win the competition.

There are no easy fixtures at this stage of the competition, but Barca have been handed a seemingly favourable draw against Borussia Dortmund.

The same can be said of PSG, who take on Aston Villa over two legs for a place in the semi-finals, having ousted Liverpool in the last-16.

Real Madrid - who have knocked out Atletico Madrid and Manchester City in the last two rounds - face Arsenal in arguably the tie of the round and whoever comes through that will fancy their chances of winning the UEFA Champions League.

 Let’s take a closer look at the outright odds before the quarter-final matches get underway.

Barcelona - 4.00

Barcelona are the hot fancies at 4.00 to go on and win the UEFA Champions League, and that is partly down to the fact they have a favourable draw.

Of course, no path to winning the UEFA Champions League is smooth, and there are potential banana skins for the Catalan giants.

However, they will be pleased to have what looks to be an easier route to the final.

First up is a showdown with Borussia Dortmund over two legs in the quarter-finals. If, as expected, they come through that test, they will face the winners of Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

Compared to the other side of the draw, it looks like an easier route to the final in Munich.

Paris Saint-Germain - 4.33

PSG are next in the betting at 4.33 and that is no surprise considering that they knocked Liverpool out of the competition in the last round.

Now they face more English opposition in the form of Aston Villa and it would be a huge upset if PSG were to fall at this hurdle, with a place in the semi-finals looking more than likely.

That is were it will get harder, with PSG set to face either Real Madrid or Arsenal.

If you want to go all the way, you have to beat the best at some point and PSG may have to do that in the semis.

Real Madrid - 4.50

Real Madrid could have to beat Arsenal, PSG and Barcelona in the next three ties if they are to successfully defend their UEFA Champions League title.

It does not get much harder than that and is why Los Blancos have slipped to 4.50 in the betting.

However, it would take a brave man to back against them and Real will fancy their chances over overcoming the odds to win a record-extending 16th European Cup.

Bayern Munich - 6.00

There can be no bigger incentive for Bayern Munich than a UEFA Champions League final on home soil at the Allianz Arena.

That is the prize if they can negotiate their way through the quarter and semi-finals.

First up is Inter Milan and, if they can battle their way past the reigning Serie A champions, they are likely to face Barcelona in the last four.

Therefore, it is no surprise to see their outright odds sitting at 6.00.
