UEFA Champions League outright odds: Barcelona still lead the way

There are now just four teams left with a chance of winning the UEFA Champions League this season, with the two clubs who have never previously lifted the trophy meeting in the semi-finals.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are the pair who are yet to be crowned European champions, with both having reached the final but lost out - the Gunners to Barcelona in 2006 and PSG to Bayern Munich in 2020.

Five-time champions Barca face three-time winners Inter Milan in the second semi-final and it is the Catalan giants who continue to head the outright market at 3.00, while the Nerazzurri are outsiders at 5.50.

Barcelona - 3.00

Barcelona have been the hot fancies for a sixth European Cup triumph for some time and a 4-0 home win over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their quarter-final tie seemed to suggest that the market was about right.

However, a 3-1 reverse in the return leg in Dortmund may have caused pause for thought, with Hansi Flick's side also embroiled in a battle for the La Liga title with Real Madrid and stretched to the full this weekend.

Barca downed Real 3-2after extra-time in Seville to win the Copa del Rey final, but the effort in that success may have a telling effect when they welcome in Inter for the semi-final first leg, with the Italians having had a weekend off as Serie A paused for the passing of Pope Francis.

Attacking prowess is not in doubt, but defensive issues could come back to haunt Barca as the competition nears its conclusion.

Paris Saint-Germain - 3.25

Having taken a different route to previously signing massive stars, Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as a major force in Europe this season and are busy destroying the English Premier League's hopes in the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool and Aston Villa have been ousted in the last two rounds and next up the French champions take on Arsenal.

Like Barca, PSG suffered defeat in the second leg of their quarter-final tie as they went down 3-2 at Villa Park and were perhaps fortunate to progress by a 5-4 aggregate score.

Former Barcelona great Luis Enrique has clearly made a big impact since taking charge of the Parisians and they will have high hopes of finally getting their hands on the trophy.

Arsenal - 3.50

Arsenal have been perhaps the most impressive performers in the UEFA Champions League in the knockout stages, dishing out a 9-3 aggregate defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the last-16 before despatching holders Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

A 3-0 home win over Real set the Gunners up nicely to book their semi-final spot, but they showed real class in backing that up with a 2-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu to ease into the last four.

Head coach Mikel Arteta has moulded a tight unit who continue to get the job done despite playing without an out-and-out striker.

England winger Bukayo Saka was one of the scorers in Madrid and his return from long-term injury at the start of April has provided an attacking boost needed to make up for the lack of a quality goalscorer.

Inter Milan - 5.50

Inter Milan may feel a little aggrieved to be ranked as the outsiders to win the UEFA Champions League as the semi-finals approach, with that standing mainly due to them facing Barcelona in the last four.

However, the Nerazzurri should certainly not be discounted, having ended Bayern Munich's hopes of playing in the final on their own ground by winning their quarter-final tie 4-3 on aggregate.

Inspirational skipper Lautaro Martinez has scored in each of the three knockout phase games he has played in and has eight overall in the competition this season and he will relish the opportunity to test out a Barca backline who are far from watertight.
