UEFA Champions League quarter-finals first leg preview

The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season has reached the quarter-finals stage with eight teams still dreaming of earning European glory this term.

With games taking place in the early hours of Wednesday and Thursday morning, here’s a closer look at all four mouthwatering quarter-final clashes.

Arsenal v Real Madrid

Arsenal’s hopes of Premier League title success might have dwindled but the Gunners are still holding on to UEFA Champions League glory this season.

The north London outfit have saved some of their best performance this term for European nights and they will need another strong display if they are to take a much-needed advantage back to the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg.

The Gunners are 2.37 to win on Wednesday morning at the Emirates, with Real Madrid at 3.10 to hold a lead at the end of the first leg.

A draw on the night is currently available at 3.25.

Bayern Munich v Inter Milan

Bayern Munich have plenty of experience when it comes to the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League and they will be looking to put that knowledge to good use when they host Inter Milan in their first leg on Wednesday.

The Bavarian giants responded from a shock defeat to Feyenoord in the league phase and have gone five games unbeaten in the competitions since.

Breezing past Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen in the last round, Bayern now have Inter in their sights and are 1.95 favourites to win on home soil at the Allianz Arena.

Unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions, Serie A frontrunners Inter will be no pushovers and the Nerazzurri are 3.70 for the win on Wednesday, with a draw at 3.60.

Barcelona v Borussia Dortmund

Barcelona are the outright favourites to win the UEFA Champions League title this year but first they must negotiate their way past Borussia Dortmund.

With the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal in their ranks, Barca are 1.38 to hold a lead going into the second leg in Germany.

Dortmund are 7.50 underdogs to cause a major upset at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, while the draw on Thursday morning is currently 5.00.

Paris Saint-Germain v Aston Villa

Aston Villa have done tremendously well to reach the quarter-finals in their very first UEFA Champions League but they won’t want the journey to end just yet.

Manager Unai Emery comes up against his former club in the form of Paris Saint-Germain, who are the second favourites behind Barca for the title.

Villa are 7.50 for the win at the Parc des Princes on Thursday morning, while PSG are 1.40, with the draw at 4.75 in the French capital.
