Western Sydney Wanderers v Brisbane Roar: A-League Saturday preview

Western Sydney Wanderers return to action after a week off to take on Brisbane Roar on Saturday as the home side aim to ensure their visitors remain winless in the A-League this term.

Brisbane Road have lost five of their six games so far, leaving them bottom of the pile, while Western Sydney go into this game with two wins from six and three losses.

Head-to-head suggests goals

The last seven head-to-head games have seen both sides find the back of the net. This season, Brisbane Roar have already conceded 18 goals in six games.

Western Sydney meanwhile are averaging more than two goals per game, with 13 scored in their six A-League outings.

The Roar have also been in good scoring form, Ruben Zadkovich's side netting nine in six games despite being winless. Both teams to score in this Commbank Stadium clash is 1.50, while over 2.5 goals trades at 1.44.

Zadkovich's side look to bounce back after suffering a disappointing 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Melbourne City in their last outing. The Wanderers were 2-0 winners against Melbourne City prior to having a week off via their bye-week.

Exciting attacking talents on show

Both teams have home grown forwards that can do damage. Wanderers have Nicolas Milanovic, 23, bidding to add his league-high tally of five goals already, while the Roar will be looking to teenager Thomas Waddingham to add to his three goals this season.

Milanovic is priced at 7.50 to score the opening goal in this A-League showdown.

Going into this game bottom of the ladder, Road boss Zadkovich told the media that he is relishing the 'hardships of trying to keep this group together'.

He will have Ben Halloran back in the squad for this one, while Quinn MacNicol could appear for the first time this season and Adam Zimarino is also expected to make the matchday squad.

Roar aiming to keep run going

The Roar are unbeaten in their last six league meetings with the Wanderers in a run that stretches back to May 2021.

When the sides last met at the Commbank Stadium in April goals from Tom Aldred and Henry Hore helped the visitors to a 2-1 win.

Dylan Pierias was on the scoresheet for Wanderers in that contest and the visiting side had Macklin Freke to thank for a 91st minute save that ensured they held out for the win.

A repeat 2-1 win for the Roar is priced at 13.00 here, while the Wanderers will feel they have a decent chance to end that recent poor run of form against this opposition and they are 8.50 to get a 2-1 home victory on Saturday.
