NRL: Souths targeting seven on the bounce

South Sydney Rabbitohs will be out to extend their impressive unbeaten run when they take on struggling Parramatta at Allianz Stadium on Friday evening.

The Bunnies are the form team in the competition after winning six games on the bounce to take them to the top of the ladder.

They are turning into the team to beat this season and are priced at 4.00 to go on and win the 2023 NRL grand final.

Parramatta made the grand final last year before losing to Penrith, but it has been a dramatic fall from grace since then.

After losing some key players they have slipped to 14th on the ladder with just four wins to their name.

Even so they still have bags of quality in their side and if it all clicks, they can cause an upset against the Rabbitohs.

Souths the team to beat

South Sydney continue to shine after beating Wests Tigers 20-0 at the weekend to move to top of the ladder.

They have won their last six games, with Brisbane Broncos, Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers among their victims.

It is no surprise then that the Rabbitohs are many peoples hot fancies to go on and win the premiership in 2023.

As long as the likes of Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker and co continue to fire, then they will take some stopping.

Their defence was also super tight when keeping the Tigers to zero and that will have pleased coach Jason Demetriou.

The Rabbitohs could be without Tom Burgess due to a back issue, while Jed Cartwright is definitely out with concussion.

Bunnies winger Alex Johnston loves playing against the Eels and has scored seven tries in the last three games against them - he is priced at 6.50 to score the first on Friday night.

Eels must overcome Souths hoodoo

The Eels are desperate to pick up a win, but will need to overcome a poor recent record against Souths if they are to do so.

Parramatta have lost the last six games against the bunnies and eight out of the last nine, so have it all to do.

On current form there only looks to be one winner, but the Eels can pull off wins when their backs are to the wall and they have the quality to do it.

The Eels have been handed a massive boost with the return of star playmaker Mitchell Moses and he will need to be at his best when up against Walker and Lachlan Ilias in the halves.

Fullback Clint Gutherson will also be key after he scored seven tries in his past eight games against Souths, while winger Maika Sivo is bang in form with 14 tries in his past 10 games this season.

Sivo is 2.10 to score at anytime, Gutherson 2.90.

When the Eels have lost this season, it has not been by much, with 10 points the biggest losing margin against the Broncos.

If the Eels are to pull off a surprise win, it is likely to be tight, and they can be backed at 6.50 to win by 1-5 points.
