Big Bash preview: Stars out for a five in a row

Melbourne Stars are one of the form teams in the Big Bash League and will be looking for their fifth win on the bounce against the Sydney Sixers.

The Stars were looking at a battle to avoid the wooden spoon after a slow start, but they have sprung into life and will fancy their chances of going all the way.

They can be backed at 6.00 to go on and win BBL 13.

Their winning streak began with a four-wicket win over the Sixers in Sydney on Boxing Day and they have not looked back since.

The Sixers are also on eight points for the season, but they have not won in the last four.

Two of those games have been washed out by the weather, but they still need a win to get back on track.

Both sides are packed with some of the best players in the BBL and the crowd that turns up at the MCG could be in for a treat.

Maxwell continues to shine

The Stars picked up their fourth win on the spin when beating Melbourne Renegades by eight wickets in a rain-effected match.

Glenn Maxwell was once again man-of-the-match and it is no coincidence that the Stars are on the up after the gun all-rounder found his form.

Maxwell smashed another 32 runs off just 15 deliveries, while he also picked up a wicket in the three overs he bowled.

He can be backed at 6.50 to the Player of the Match once again.

Tom Rogers was the Stars leading batsman however after he finished 42 not-out, with his knock coming from 34 deliveries.

Rogers is priced at 5.50 to be Team – Top Batter against the Sixers, but Maxwell remains the hot fancy at 4.33 to take that honour.

Dan Lawrence was the pick of the bowlers against the Renegades when he took two wickets for the loss of 28 runs.

Lawrence is a big price at 7.00 to be Team – Top Bowler on Saturday.

Sixers aim to bounce back

The Sixers are not having any luck with the weather as two games have been washed out, while the defeat against Brisbane Heat was also effected.

The Heat won by three runs via the DLS method and the Sixers are in need of a response when they take on the Stars.

Sydney managed to get their 20 overs in with the bat and made 141/8 before the bad weather came in.

Josh Philippe top-scored with 41 runs from 36 deliveries, but the rest of the batting line-up failed to step up.

Jack Edwards and Moises Henriques both got themselves in but then failed to kick on and were out for 22 runs.

Philippe is 4.50 to be Team – Top Batter, with James Vince available at 4.00.
