NRL: Storm and Raiders battle for top four

NRL fans are in for a treat on Sunday when fourth-place Melbourne Storm entertain the Canberra Raiders, who sit in fifth spot.

They are both locked on 30 points, with only points difference putting the Storm into that crucial fourth spot on the ladder.

Finishing in the top four is crucial to a teams chances of going all the way and winning the grand final, so the clash between the Storm and Raiders is huge.

The Storm are priced at 1.35 to make the top four, while the Raiders can be backed at 8.00. The Raiders do have a tougher run-in, hence the longer price.

Even so, the Raiders have had a great season and will be keen to keep building the momentum heading into finals.

The Storm can be backed at 8.50 to win the grand final but with Penrith and Brisbane in hot form, it could be a tall order. Canberra can be backed at 41.00.

Storm welcome back key duo

The Storm will have been licking their wounds all week following a 20-point defeat against the Penrith Panthers and will be keen to bounce back.

The loss put a big dent in their premiership aspirations, but as is so often the case, Craig Bellamy’s side will be confident of bouncing back the week after a disappointing result.

Melbourne smashed the Parramatta Eels the week before and consistency has been an issue for them in 2022. Something they will attempt to fix in the remaining games of the regular season.

They will be helped by the return of influential duo Jahrome Hughes and Xavier Coates from ankle and hip injuries respectively against the Raiders.

Coates will be a big threat out on the wing and can be backed at 7.50 to grab the opening try of the game.

Hooker Harry Grant has scored five tries in his last four games and is priced at 3.10 to score at Anytime on Sunday.

The Storm have won seven of the past eight games in Melbourne and will also be out for revenge after the Raiders ended their 2022 campaign in the first week of finals.

Canberra eye more Melbourne success

Travelling to AAMI Park will hold no fear for the Raiders, who have enjoyed great success at the venue in recent times.

Indeed the green machine have won their last five games there so should be full of confidence heading into this latest encounter.

Canberra have made a habit of digging in and grinding out results when games have been tight this season and we could be in for another close one here.

The Raiders can be backed at 9.00 to win by 1-5 points, while the Storm are 6.50 to win within the same margin.

Like the Raiders, Jordan Rapana also loves playing at AAMI Park, scoring five tries in eight games at the stadium. The fullback is priced at 3.60 to score another at Anytime during the game.

The Raiders have a tough run-in to the regular season with games against the Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks also on the horizon.
