The 2025 Super Rugby schedule has been announced and there is a new look to the competition, which will begin on 14th February 2024.
Here is all you need to know about the new revamped format for 2025.
The unfortunate demise of the Melbourne Rebels means there will be just 11 teams competing in the 2025 Super Rugby competition.
There will be four teams from Australia, five from New Zealand and one each from Fiji and Pacific Islands and they are as follows:
Blues, Chiefs, Crusaders, Highlanders and Hurricanes - all from New Zealand.
Western Force, Brumbies, Reds and Waratahs - all from Australia.
Drua from Fiji and Moana Pasifika.
Under the new format, each team will play 14 matches in the regular season. Seven at home and seven away, while they will be allocated two byes.
Teams will play four other teams twice, with a focus on ‘rivalry match-ups’. They will then play the other six teams once.
At the end of the regular season the top six teams will qualify to play in the three-week Finals Series.
In 2025, the Finals Series will consist of three qualifying finals, with the winner of each going through to the semi-finals.
They will be joined by the highest-seeded losing team dubbed the ‘lucky loser’.
The winners of the two semi-finals will then progress through to the grand final.
Stan Sport will once again broadcast the action in Super Rugby for the 2025 campaign.
The Blues won the 2024 competition when beating the Chiefs 41-10 in the grand final.
It was their fourth title, having also won the competition in 2007, 2009 and 2010, and they will be gunning to make it number five in 2025.
The Crusaders had previously dominated Super Rugby, winning it five years on the bounce up until 2023 and they will be keen to bounce back in the season ahead.
The Chiefs, who have lost the last two grand finals, will likely be in the mix once again.
South African side the Bulls won three Super Rugby crowns during a dominant spell in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
The Brumbies and the Chiefs have won two titles respectively, while the Waratahs, Hurricanes, Highlanders and Reds have all been crowned champions once each.
The 2025 Super Rugby season will begin on 14th February but the fixture list has yet to be announced, therefore there are no odds available at the time of writing.
