Super Rugby: Brumbies can add to Waratahs’ woes

With an outstanding record in this fixture, the Brumbies will be brimming with confidence when they head to Sydney on Saturday to face the Waratahs.

Competing at the top end of the Super Rugby Pacific table in third, the Brumbies have shown themselves to be the strongest of the Australian teams in the competitions so far.

The rock-bottom Western Force and 11th-place Waratahs are propping up the table and the Tahs will need to produce their performance of the season to stop the Brumbies charging on to their ninth win of the campaign.

. What: Waratahs v Brumbies
. Where: Allianz Stadium, Sydney
. When: 19:35 (AEST), Saturday 11th May 2024
. How to watch: Stan Sports

Tahs still seeking answers

With just two wins in their 10 games, it’s been a tough campaign so far for head coach Darren Coleman and his Waratahs side.

In fairness, the Sydney outfit have been on a difficult run of late, playing against Kiwi opposition in the form of the Crusaders, Chiefs and Hurricanes in their last three outings.

Causing a shock with a 43-40 win against the Crusaders in Sydney, the Tahs have since lost 38-22 to the Chiefs and 41-12 to the Hurricanes last time out.

Back in the home comforts of Allianz Stadium, the Waratahs will be looking for revenge against the Brumbies after suffering a 40-16 loss on their visit to Canberra in early April.

The hosts are the 3.75 underdogs to stun the Brumbies with a win in Sydney this weekend, while the Tahs are available at 1.91 with +9 in the Line market.

Brumbies can extend winning run

Having won all of their last 12 Super Rugby encounters against the Waratahs, the Brumbies have been the dominant force in this fixture.

Not only have they been winning these clashes but they have been racking up the score.

The Brumbies have scored exactly 40 points in their last two meetings with the Tahs and are available at 2.25 to win by 13+ points on Saturday.

Head coach Stephen Larkham and his side find themselves in great form going into this one, having won seven of their eight games.

The Brumbies have been the strongest of the Australian teams and their record shows it, having won 10 of their last 11 games against fellow Aussie sides.

All signs are pointing towards a dominant performance from the Brumbies, who will have serious aspirations of going all the way to the grand final this season.

Expect there to be plenty of tries in Saturday’s game, with Brumbies wingers Andy Muirhead and Ollie Sapsford both 1.83 in the Anytime tryscorer market to go over this weekend.

For the Waratahs, utility back Mark Nawaqanitawase finds himself at fullback again for this one and is certainly worth considering at 2.30 to score a try in Saturday’s showdown in Sydney.
