With so many top-class batsmen at the T20 World Cup, the bowlers will have their work cut out to contain them, but there is enough quality at the tournament to do just that.
It is no great surprise that the Australian bowling attack dominates the market for tournament top bowler.
Three of the top five contenders play for Australia, including one of the most feared fast bowlers in world cricket, Mitchell Starc.
India are the hot fancies at 3.50 to win the tournament, and they will be relying on Jasprit Bumrah to step up a deliver the goods.
However there are number of bowlers who could finish the tournament as the top bowler. Let’s take a look at five of them.
Jasprit Bumrah – 7.00
Bumrah is arguably the most feared bowler heading into the T20 World Cup and is key to India’s chances of going all the way.
The pace bowler has been in great form despite the fact the Mumbai Indians struggled during the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Bumrah caught the eye when taking 20 wickets in 13 IPL matches, so should head to the T20 World Cup full of confidence.
The slow pitches in the USA and West Indies should also suit Bumrah, who has a great chance of ending the tournament as the top bowler.
Mitchell Starc – 12.00
Starc, just like team-mates Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood, will be a big threat during the T20 World Cup.
The Australian got the 2024 IPL campaign with Kolkata Knight Riders off to a slow start, but improved as the tournament progressed.
Indeed Starc went on to take 17 wickets as Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.
Starc bowls an effective line and length which will be key if Australia are to go on and win the T20 World Cup.
Jofra Archer – 19.00
England are the current holders of the T20 World Cup and will be hoping that fast bowler Archer can help them defend their crown.
Archer has had a very frustrating time on the injury front and will be motivated to make up for lost time at the tournament.
Hitting speeds in excess of 145kph, Archer can strike fear into batsmen and take the wickets that England will need to win the T20 World Cup.
Trent Boult – 19.00
The New Zealand left-arm seamer caught the eye during the Indian Premier League when taking 16 wickets for the Rajasthan Royals.
He helped the Royals reach the play-offs and will also be crucial to New Zealand’s chances of going all the way at the T20 World Cup.
Rashid Khan – 23.00
Khan is regarded as one of the best T20 bowlers in world cricket, and Afghanistan’s chances of having a strong tournament hinge on his wicket-taking.
The spin bowler and captain of the side is in good form after returning from injury, and will be keen to put on a show at the World Cup.
He is a favourite of the T20 franchises across the globe and once again the slow pitches in the USA and West Indies will suit him down to the ground.
Pat Cummins -12.00
Adam Zampa - 13.00
Josh Hazlewood - 17.00
Shaheen Afridi - 19.00
