A-League: Talay begins with Adelaide tester

New Sydney FC boss Ufuk Talay is set for a baptism of fire when he heads to Adelaide United for his first game at the helm on Saturday.

The Sky Blues only parted company with Steve Corica on Tuesday and they have wasted no time in getting Talay in to replace him.

Talay has won the Championship as a player and assistant coach with Sydney FC and now aims to achieve the same as a head coach.

He will need to turn things around very quickly if they are to do it this season, and they can be backed at 11.00 to win the grand final.

The clash against Adelaide now takes on extra significance and has to be the highlight of the day.

However, there are two other important games with Western Sydney Wanderers entertaining Perth Glory and Western United taking on Newcastle Jets.

Adelaide United have got the season off to a great start with two wins and a draw, scoring 10 goals and conceding just one.

The one they conceded came in a fierce 1-1 draw at Melbourne Victory last weekend, and they will look to return to winning ways against Sydney.

They will have to do it without talented starlet Nestory Irankunda, who was sent off late in the game against Victory, but the Reds still have heaps of attacking talent.

Hiroshi Ibusuki got the equalising goal against Melbourne Victory and he can be backed at 2.30 to score at anytime on Saturday.

The Reds would have been relishing a clash against a Sydney side that have lost their opening three games of the season.

However, the appointment of Talay suddenly changes the mood in the Sky Blues' camp and the players will be out to impress their new boss. It could put them right in the mix to cause an upset.

The last two games have finished in high-scoring draws and over 2.5 goals can be backed at 1.50.

Fixtures between these two sides are usually very tight, with just one goal in it if they are not fighting out a draw, and we could be in for another tight one on Saturday.

Jets still chasing first victory

Ninth takes on tenth in the opening game of the day, and both sides are in desperate need of a win.

Western started the season with a shock success at Melbourne City, but it has gone pear shaped since then. A 5-0 defeat against Western Sydney Wanderers followed, before they lost 1-0 against Macarthur FC last weekend.

The Jets have yet to secure a victory this season, but have picked up a couple of 2-2 draws against Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers.

Both of those games were on the road and another 2-2 draw at Mars Stadium can be backed at 12.00.

Wanderers in need of a win

This has to be seen as a must-win game for the Wanderers, who will be disappointed with their start to the season.

They have hammered Western United 5-0 but dropped points with draws against Wellington Phoenix and Newcastle.

If they are to challenge for the title, those are the games they need to be winning and they cannot afford to drop any more points against Glory.

The visitors will be boosted after picking up their first three points with a 2-0 win over Central Coast Mariners last weekend.

Glory have won the last two games between the two sides 1-0, but both were in Perth. Wanderers also won the game before at CommBank 1-0.

That same 1-0 scoreline to the home side can be backed at 8.50.
