Carlos Alcaraz continues his quest for a maiden Australian Open title on Sunday as the Spaniard squares off with British number one Jack Draper in round four at Melbourne Park.
Alcaraz has dropped just one set in his opening three matches at the Australian Open, while Draper has survived three epic five-set encounters to make it this far.
The 15th seed now faces his sternest test to date as he battles the No.3 seed for the right to face either Jiri Lehecka or 10-time Melbourne champion Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals.
Alcaraz has high hopes of making history next Sunday. The 21-year-old has won the French and US Opens as well as a couple of Wimbledon titles and is bidding to become the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam.
The affable Spaniard already has tattoos of the date of his 2022 US Open win, the Eiffel Tower to represent his 2024 Paris triumph and a strawberry to represent his two Wimbledon titles.
He told the Melbourne Park crowd there is little doubt about what comes next, should be the last man standing on Rod Laver Arena at the end of the Australian Open.
"I will get a kangaroo (tattoo) for sure, that's my idea. The only thing missing is to lift the trophy here but it's definitely the plan if it happens," he said.
He has made serene progress to reach this stage, dropping just one set against Portugal's Nuno Borges via a tie-breaker en route to round four and he's now eyeing victory here, with the chance to go beyond the quarters in Melbourne for the first time.
Alcaraz is 1.80 to defeat Draper in straight sets and the Spaniard is 2.00 to overcome a 7.5-game handicap in this match.
Draper was ranked 18th in the world entering the opening Grand Slam of 2025 and the Brit has been putting an end to some home hopes so far.
He overcame Argentine Mariano Navone in his opener before back-to-back five-set wins against Aussie contenders Thanasi Kokkinakis and Aleksandar Vukic.
His battle with Sydney-born Vukic was an epic, despite Draper taking just 30 minutes to win the opening set.
Draper smashed a racquet on the court and got involved in some verbals with the partisan crowd as he lost sets two and three, but the upset appeared to galvanise him and he won back-to-back tie-breaks in sets four and five.
After three five-set encounters, Draper suggested: "I'm obviously not feeling incredibly fresh right now, but I'll recover again. I'll do my best to go again for another one."
He's rated an 8.00 chance to stun Alcaraz and the 23-year-old Brit can be backed at 15.00 to come through in five sets yet again.
Draper defeated Alcaraz the last time they played, on grass at the Queen's Club in London last year, though the Spaniard won their two meetings before that.
The Brit became only the seventh man in history to win his first three rounds at the Australian Open in five sets and admits he must be brave if he is to prevail against the four-time Grand Slam winner.
"I need to be aggressive. I need to take my chances," Draper said of his clash with Alcaraz.
"Against the top players you get less and less chances to win games and sets. I need to be brave in the way I play."
Time will tell if the marathon man finally runs out of road against the Spanish sensation.
