Australia’s WBO super welterweight champion Tim Tszyu is set to take on Keith Thurman in Las Vegas and here is everything you need to know about the historic bout.

Tszyu is set to make history by becoming the first Australian-born fighter to headline a Pay-Per-View event in the USA.

The stakes will be high in Las Vegas, as a win against Thurman could set up a huge fight against the welterweight king Terence Crawford.

Not only that, the stakes of the fight have been raised even higher with the news that Tszyu’s WBO belt is on the line should he lose to Thurman.

The super welterweight bout between Tim Tszyu and Keith Thurman is set to take place on Sunday 31st March (AEST).

Tim Tszyu versus Keith Thurman is the headline act, but there are some other exciting bouts on the card.

WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara and Michael Zerafa are set to go head to head, along with Rolando Romero versus Isaac Cruz.

Confirmed timings for the fight night have yet to be released but the tussle between Tszyu and Thurman will likely see the two men in the ring at around 13:00 (AEST) on Sunday.

The bout is set to take place at the iconic T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas.

The T-Mobile Arena seats 20,000 and is used to holding world-class events, including UFC, boxing and basketball.

Initially Tszyu was not putting his WBO belt on the line against Thurman, who is coming up from welterweight and has not been in the ring for two years.

However it has now been revealed Tszyu will be stripped of the belt should he lose.

The reason being, the WBO wants whoever wins Tszyu versus Thurman, to take on Terence Crawford in a title fight.

There would also be huge interest in Thurman, who once ruled the welterweight division, versus Crawford, so it means the stakes have now been raised further.

Tszyu has an impressive undefeated record that stretches over eight years and 24 fights.

The Aussie also heads into the bout on the back of a very impressive 2023 when he dominated Tony Harrison, Carlos Ocampo and Brian Mendoza.

Keith Thurman record

Thurman has suffered just one defeat in 30 bouts, and that came against Manny Pacquiao in May 2019.

He then spent 31 months away from the ring before returning to take on Mario Barrios on 5th February 2022.

Thurman won by a unanimous decision but has not fought since.
