Australian Racing: Tolerance looks strong at Moe

There are seven meetings scheduled to take place on Friday, including at Moe, where a nine-race card is scheduled.

They also race at Carnarvon, Geelong, Moruya, Port Augusta, Rockhampton and Scone.

Tolerance set for Moe triumph

The sixth race on the Moe program is a 2050m Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place on a heavy 10 surface.

The New Zealand-bred Zilzie Lad is expected to have his supporters, having registered a number of placed efforts this prep.

Those placed efforts include a narrow defeat when runner-up over 1628m in a Benchmark 58 handicap held on a wet track here three starts back.

The four-year-old recorded his best effort in two subsequent starts when beaten a length over 1600m at Ballarat at the end of last month.

The son of Almanzor jumped from an inside barrier when contesting a Benchmark 64 handicap that day and he steps up in distance and drops in grade here.

However, fellow grade dropper TOLERANCE is preferred for the Alexander Rae team with the gelding making his third start this prep.

The pick resumed with a third, beaten less than a length when contesting a 1600m Benchmark 64 handicap at Pakenham in May.

The chestnut raced on a soft track that day and again encountered a soft surface when fourth over the same distance in a similar contest at Cranbourne last month.

While the 7.00 selection has yet to win on the forecast heavy going, he did register a solid fourth, beaten five lengths, in a Werribee maiden on debut in his sole previous start on a heavy surface.

The extra distance the four-year-old tackles here is a positive having shown good form over around this distance last prep including when breaking his maiden over 2200m at Hamilton.

Jake Noonan, on board for both starts this prep is again set to ride and his mount is taken to return to winning ways.

Acheson to return with a win

The penultimate race of the day at Moruya is a 1210m Class 1 handicap event.

A heavy 8 track is expected, with the sole two-year-old in the field Dupli Kate expected to feature prominently in the market.

The youngster returned from a spell with a victory in a maiden held over 1175m at Albury last month.

The daughter of Star Turn raced on a wet track that day and again encountered soft conditions when recording a fourth over 1200m in a similar race to this here 28th June.

Norm Gardner’s filly demonstrated she can be competitive at this level that day, but, while she rates highly, preference is for ACHESON here.

Trained by Keith Dryden the gelding demonstrated plenty of ability in his first prep finishing runner-up on each of his first two starts including when beaten half-a-length here on debut.

That debut effort came over this distance and, while he failed to shine when fifth at Warwick Farm on his third start of that prep, he put that effort behind him at Canberra next time.

The 3.00 selection won by a narrow margin having jumped form an inside barrier when racing over 1200m in that Canberra contest.

The Churchill gelding was spelled following that effort and he is taken to complete a double on his first start this prep.

Rich to claim Geelong finale

The finale at Geelong is an interesting Benchmark 65 handicap contest expected to take place on a soft 5 track.

The Matthew Brown-trained SHE’S PRETTY RICH takes the eye here, having registered a narrow win in a Benchmark 58 handicap at Werribee three starts back.

The 9.00 selection has placed on both starts since including when third having crossed the border for a metro contest over 1500m at Morphettville at the start of last month.

The daughter of Written Tycoon arrives here on the back of a close second in a 1400m Benchmark 64 handicap at Wangaratta, with all three of those efforts coming on wet tracks.

Apprentice Jaylah Kennedy takes a valuable two kilograms off the four-year-old’s back with her mount selected to deliver the third win of her career.
