Premier League: Tottenham aiming to stop the rot

Tottenham Hotspur will be out to stop the rot against Newcastle United after losing four out of their last five games in the Premier League.

Spurs and boss Ange Postecoglou could do no wrong as they remained unbeaten through the first 10 games of the league season.

However, a shocking run of form has seen them slip out of the top four and they desperately need to beat Newcastle to get themselves back on track.

Tottenham had been mentioned as potential title contenders following their electric start, but on current form they will do well to secure a place in the top four.

They are priced at 4.20 to do just that and play Champions League football next season.

The Newcastle game is huge and three points would help to get them back on track and put an end to the negative outside noise.

Spurs need to take chances

Tottenham have lost four of their last five games, while they also fought out a 3-3 draw with leaders Manchester City during the winless streak.

Most alarming for Spurs is the fact that they have held a 1-0 lead in three of the games, before going on to lose.

West Ham in midweek was a classic example as Tottenham created a heap of chances, but were unable to take them, and the Hammers snatched a 2-1 win.

Failure to take their chances left Postecoglou fuming and he has called on his players to have more conviction in front of goal against Newcastle.

Already talk has turned to the departure of Harry Kane and how Tottenham are missing him.

Son Heung-min is Tottenham’s leading goalscorer this season with nine goals and two assists and he can be backed at 2.40 to score at anytime against Newcastle.

Dejan Kulusevski has four goals to his name this season and is priced at 4.33 to score at anytime.

Tottenham have scored 29 goals this season, but Newcastle have also been prolific when firing home 32.

There is a very good chance we could be in for a high-scoring encounter and over 2.5 goals in the game is priced at 1.53.

Magpies out to bounce back

Newcastle are sharing the goals around nicely as they sit in seventh place on the ladder, just one point behind Spurs.

Alexander Isak has nine goals already this season, Callum Wilson seven and Antony Gordon six - Isak and Wilson can both be backed at 6.50 to grab the first goal of the game.

Newcastle also head into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat against Everton and will be hoping to bounce back.

The Magpies have also set their sights on the top four and a Champions League spot and can be backed at 2.62 to achieve that goal.
