NRL: Trbojevic returns for the bright lights of Vegas

The NRL is back with a bang with the 2024 campaign set to get underway with a double-header in the bright lights of Las Vegas on Sunday.

Manly Sea Eagles take on South Sydney Rabbitohs in the opening game, before the Sydney Roosters and Brisbane Broncos go head-to-head.

Both games will be played at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and taking the NRL to the United States has been 25 years in the making.

The aim will be to put on another great show in Vegas.

The Rabbitohs should be in the mix to win the premiership this season and can be backed at 9.50 to go all the way.

Manly could be a dark horse if their star players stay fit and on the field and can be backed at 26.00.

·         What: Manly Sea Eagles v South Sydney Rabbitohs
·         Where: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas
·         When: 13:30 (AEDT), Sunday 3rd March 2024
·         How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel
·         Odds: Manly Sea Eagles 2.10, South Sydney Rabbitohs 1.75

Trbojevic looks to take off

The Sea Eagles missed out on finals in the 2023 NRL campaign and the target will be to make the top eight in the season ahead.

They can be backed at 2.40 to make it, but getting the season off to a strong start will be needed.

The Sea Eagles have won only one of their past 10 opening games of a season, but that did come in 2023 when they beat the Bulldogs.

There has been plenty of changes during the off-season, but the key to their season, Tom Trbojevic, remains, and is back to fitness.

The star fullback has not played in the NRL since round 15 last season due to a torn pectoral and his return is a huge boost.

If Trbojevic can have an injury free season then the Sea Eagles will fancy their chances of going far.

Trbo can be backed at 2.50 to mark his return to action with a try at anytime.

Manly will field a new-look halves combination following the arrival of Luke Brooks, who will partner skipper Daly Cherry-Evans.

Walker boost for Bunnies

Surprisingly, the Rabbitohs also missed out on the top eight in 2023 and will be desperate to bounce back and hit the ground running.

Souths have won their last seven games against Manly and will be out for number eight on Sunday.

It could be a tight game however and the Rabbitohs are priced at 3.10 to win by 1-12 points, while the Sea Eagles are 3.25 to win within the same margin.

The Bunnies do have the try-scoring machine Alex Johnston in their side and he has scored 14 tries in the last 15 games against Manly.

Johnston can be backed at 7.50 to score the first try of the game.

The Rabbitohs are also boosted by the news that key playmaker Cody Walker has recovered from a calf injury and can take his place in the halves.
