A-League: Victory on the up ahead of Big Blue

Melbourne Victory will be looking for another three points against Sydney FC in the ‘Big Blue’ to keep the pressure on at the top of the A-League.

Victory sit in fourth place on the ladder, just two points behind leaders Macarthur FC and could go top with a win and other results going their way.

Tony Popovic’s side are now the hot fancies at 4.33 to win the minor premiership following an unbeaten start to the new season.

Sydney have had issues and need to get on a run if they are to climb up the ladder and make the finals.

In Saturday’s other game, Newcastle Jets entertain Perth Glory, with both sides battling at the wrong end of the ladder.

If Bruno Fornaroli can continue to fire, then Melbourne Victory are in with a great chance of winning silverware this season.

The striker continues to be the difference and scored all four goals in a 4-3 win over Western Sydney Wanderers last weekend.

He now has 11 for the season and can be backed at 2.10 to score at anytime on Saturday.

Fornaroli got his first goal of the season in the 2-0 win at Sydney in the first game of the season and has not looked back since.

The Big Blue can often be a closely-fought game, in four of the last six there has been no more than one goal between the two teams.

Sydney are currently down in 10th with just two wins all season, but the formbook can go out of the window, as this game is more like a derby.

Both teams to score can be backed at 1.44, while over 2.5 goals in the game is available at 1.50.

Newcastle Jets pulled off a big shock last weekend and showed what they are capable of with a 3-0 win away at high-flying Wellington Phoenix.

Apostolos Stamatelopoulos continues to shine in attack, scoring two goals in the victory to move to six goals for the season.

Only Fornaroli has scored more in the A-League this season and Stamatelopoulos can be backed at 2.37 to score at anytime on Saturday.

Glory may be struggling, but Adam Taggart is finding the back of the net and has four for the season so far. He can be backed at 6.50 to grab the first of the game.

Both strikers were on target when the two sides fought out a 2-2 draw in Perth in Matchday 1 at the start of the season, and it would be no surprise if they did the same again.

The last three meetings between the two sides have finished 2-2 and another can be backed at 12.00, over 2.5 goals in the game is priced at 1.61.
