A-League: Victory out to inflict more pain in Big Blue

Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC will resume their rivalry when they clash in the third Big Blue of the A-League season on Friday.

Victory have dominated so far, winning both meetings in 2023/24 and Sydney FC will be out for revenge at AAMI Park.

Victory remain undefeated in this campaign, but have drawn more games than they have won. Even so, they can still be backed at 3.00 to go on and win the minor premiership, while Sydney are 15.00.

The harbour city outfit are seven points behind one of their arch rivals and would love to close the gap with a win.

There is no love lost in this clash and we could be in for another fiery one.

Draw specialists need three points

Victory remain joint top of the ladder, level with Wellington Phoenix on 25 points.

However, it is fair to say they would be streets clear had they turned some of the seven draws they have picked up into victories.

Not for the first time this season they let the win slip through their fingers as the Phoenix scored deep in stoppage time at the weekend to earn a 1-1 draw.

The game before also finished 1-1 as the Central Coast Mariners scored at the death.

A third 1-1 draw on the bounce can be backed at 7.50.

However, Victory have picked up two wins against Sydney FC already this season.

In the opening game of the campaign they won 2-0 away from home, then on 16th December they wrapped up a 3-0 win at AAMI Park.

Bruno Fornaroli scored in both of those wins and the Victory are missing their leading goalscorer, who is at the Asian Cup with the Socceroos.

Daniel Arzani is doing his best to help fill the void and he is priced at 3.25 to score at anytime, while Ben Folami is 2.75.

Lolley continues to fire

Sydney FC have got their act together under Ufuk Talay, winning four of the last five games, to jump to sixth on the ladder.

The good run continued with a 4-0 win over Newcastle Jets at the weekend, and they now need to back it up against Victory.

Joe Lolley celebrated penning a new deal with yet another goal, to take his tally for the season to eight, while Max Burgess also grabbed a couple.

Lolley is priced at 3.60 to score at anytime, while Burgess is available at 4.33.

There is a good chance we will be in for a high-scoring game on Friday night and over 2.5 goals can be backed at 1.53.

Both teams to score is available at 1.50.
