AFL: Walker return to aid Crows' cause

Adelaide are back on home soil and will be targeting their first win of the season when they entertain Geelong on Friday night.

The Crows slipped to a narrow defeat on the Gold Coast against the Suns in round one and need to get back on track as they target the top eight.

They can be backed at 1.80 to make the top eight and play finals, while Geelong are priced at 2.00 to do the same.

The Cats began the season with victory over St Kilda, in another close game last weekend, and are targeting back-to-back wins.

A trip to the Adelaide Ovals represents a tough test for Chris Scott’s side, who won the premiership in 2022, but missed out on finals last season.

What: Adelaide v Geelong
Where: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
When: 19:40, Friday 22nd March 2024
How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel, Channel 7
Odds: Adelaide 1.47, Geelong 2.70

Walker boost for Crows

Adelaide have been handed a massive boost with the news that star forward Taylor Walker could return to action against the Cats.

Walker has been nursing a back injury that forced him to sit out the defeat against the Gold Coast last Saturday night.

However he is making good progress and Adelaide have confirmed he is in the mix to return to the side.

Walker was badly missed against the Suns and his return would be a huge boost. He can be backed at 1.05 to boot a goal at anytime, or 9.00 to score the first.

Meanwhile, Jake Soligo will be hoping for more minutes after entering the play in the third quarter last week.

He helped spark the Crows into life as they came with a strong finish to get withing six points. Soligo is priced at 2.85 to score a goal at anytime.

Same again for Geelong

The Cats are expected to go with the same side that saw off St Kilda by eight points last weekend.

There is a concern over Tanner Bruhn, who picked up an ankle issue in the win, but he is expected to recover in time.

Jack Bowes remains on the sidelines for the Cats as he battles back from a corked calf.

Oliver Dempsey caught the eye with three goals against St Kilda, while Jeremy Cameron also chipped in with two.

Dempsey is 1.47 to get another goal at anytime, while Cameron can be backed at 10.00 to boot the first of the game.

Geelong have won both the last two meetings between the two sides with relative ease, however they were both on home soil.

A trip to the Adelaide Oval is a different kettle of fish and the last time the two sides met there the Crows won by 12 points.

Adelaide can be backed at 6.00 to win by 1-12, while the Cats are also 6.00 to do the same, so a close game could be on the cards.
