A-League: Western hoping for new home comforts

Western United play their very first A-League game at their new Ironbark Fields stadium and will be desperate to start with a win against Western Sydney Wanderers.

United have been without a home they can call their own until now, so it is important they turn it into a fortress.

Three points against Wanderers would be a great start and there is sure to be a carnival atmosphere in the build-up to kick-off.

Western Sydney opened up their campaign with a 2-1 home defeat against Sydney FC and can ill afford more dropped points this early in the season.

A close encounter looks to be on the cards at what should be a packed-out Ironbark Fields and Western will be hoping the crowd can be their 12th man and swing the game their way.

Western will be out for the win

Western United got the new A-League campaign off to a very solid start when they picked up a 1-1 draw away at Wellington Phoenix.

Now they are back on home soil, at their new home Ironbark Fields, it is all about picking up their first win.

Angus Thurgate was the unlikely hero for Western in Wellington when he grabbed the equalising goal in the 72nd minute of the game.

Thurgate can be backed at 7.50 to score at anytime, and the whole Western team will be keen to be the first player to score at the new venue.

New signing Hiroshi Ibusuki could be in with a great chance of taking that honour and he is 6.50 to score the first goal of the game.

Going off what we witnessed in week one, there is a chance it will be a low-scoring game and under 2.5 goals in the game is priced at 2.37.

If it does turn into a goal-fest, over 2.5 goals is 1.57.

Wanderers need to show a response

Western Sydney will be disappointed to say the least to lose the derby clash with Sydney FC in week one.

They went down 2-1 on home turf and will be desperate to bounce back straight away.

All Wanderers fans will be wondering if new superstar signing Juan Mata will make his first start for the club.

Mata started on the bench last week and came on in the second half and the run-out will have done him good as he looks to settle into the side.

The Spanish ace can be backed at 4.33 to score a goal at anytime in the game.

Wanderers have goals in them but, as they showed against Sydney, they are also guilty of switching off at the back.

Both teams to score on Sunday can be backed at 1.50.
