A League: Western United eyeing Wanderers win

Western United will be targeting another big away win when they take on Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday.

John Aloisi’s men pulled off a big surprise when beating Melbourne City 2-1 in week 1 and they will be out to do the same to the Wanderers.

Western United can be backed at 10.00 to win the minor premiership this season.

Western Sydney cannot afford to drop more points at home after being held to a goalless draw in their opener, so there is plenty at stake at CommBank Stadium.

Wellington Phoenix were the team to frustrate the Wanderers, and now they are back on home soil they will want three points against Perth Glory.

Glory were minutes away from beating Newcastle, before the Jets equalised at the death, so they need to pick themselves up and go again.

Wellington Phoenix began the season with a solid goalless draw away at Western Sydney Wanderers, but three points will be the order of the day against Glory.

But it will be easier said than done. Three of the last five games have finished in draws, two of them 2-2, the other 1-1.

The last time the two sides met at Sky Stadium was back in January and Glory managed to leave with a 2-2 draw.

The same scoreline on Saturday can be backed at 13.00.

Wellington have also picked up a couple of wins, but they have been close affairs, 2-1 and 1-0, so there is a good chance we will be in for another tight game, probably with goals.

Both teams to score can be backed at 1.57.

Glory have failed to beat Wellington in the last six attempts, but they have never been outplayed.

Striker Adam Taggart is always a handful and has already opened his account for the season. He can be backed 2.62 to score at anytime on Saturday.

Wanderers need a response

Western Sydney were disappointing in the goalless draw against Wellington Phoenix in week one and need to kick-start their season with three points.

Just four shots on target against the Nix is not what boss Mark Rudan will have been looking for and he will demand an improvement.

The Wanderers do have a formidable-looking attack with Marcus Antonsson and Brandon Borrello priced at 2.20 and 2.30 respectively, to score at anytime.

Western United will be buzzing after goals by Lachlan Wales and Noah Botic helped them to a 2-1 away win at Melbourne City.

Western also have a good record against the Wanderers, winning three of the last four games.

They won two of them 1-0, while this same fixture last season saw Western Sydney win 1-0. So under 2.5 goals is available at 2.35.
